Join a panel of experts as they discuss:

• overcoming the stigma of seeking help for mental illness,

• how to recognize the signs of mental health distress,

• ways to respond when someone turns to you,

• how to refer a person for help,

• resources for mental health ministry.

NOTE: This training offers 1.0 Continuing Education Credit. Course completion requirements - To earn CE credit, participants must log in at the scheduled time, attend the webinar and complete an online course evaluation and CEC post-test. The post-test survey will close 7 days after you receive the link to your email. CE Certificates will be emailed within 10 business days of course completion.

Claire Wills Shynett

NCPD Council on Mental Illness Member and Coordinator @Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church Mental Health Ecumenical Ministry in Houston.

Claire Wills Shynett worked as a health care professional for over 45 years, advocating for individuals with both mental and physical disabilities to live with dignity as fully functioning, participating, and contributing members of our community. Claire now works with many nonprofits organizations in Houston, Texas assisting individuals diagnosed with Mental Illness and IDD issues in the employment arena. She remains an advocate coordinating Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church Mental Health Ecumenical Ministry providing free mental health education classes, support group meetings, and community outreach for those impacted by mental illness including the diagnosed, family members and the larger community of churches in Northeast Houston.

Father Ragan Schriver

Special Assistant to the President @Catholic Charities USA

Fr. Ragan Schriver, PsyD, LAPSW, is the Special Assistant to the President of Catholic Charities USA. He works with the team at CCUSA to help provide behavioral health perspective on various activities of the network. He is also the Director of the MSSW program and the University Of Tennessee College Of Social Work and an Associate Professor. He teaches courses on clinical interventions and organizational leadership. He is the former executive director of Catholic Charities of East Tennessee.

Maura Preszler

Author and International Speaker @Made in His Image

Maura Preszler is the founder of Made in His Image, author and international speaker. She has a strong desire to help break the stigma of shame surrounding abuse and mental illness. She is a former pastry chef and Division 1 runner. She lives in Denver, Colorado with her husband and three sons.
