 Organization and Purpose

1.The name of the Organization is the Advisory Committee for the Office for Ministry for Persons with Disabilities.

2.The purpose of the Advisory Committee is to provide advice and support for the staff of the Office for Persons with Disabilities in implementing the goals of the office, and to serve as a resource for the office and the parishes on matters concerning persons with disabilities.

The office goals are:

·to benefit the body of Christ from the spirit and gifts of all its members;

·to address the need for persons with disabilities to have fuller integration into the Christian community and participation in its life; and

·to enable personal religious growth among persons with disabilities and authentic participation in the life of the Church.




1.    The Advisory Committee will not have more than 15 members including:

       a.Representative from each Region of the Diocese.

       b.Special representatives may be appointed at the discretion of the Committee.

       c.A staff person from the Office.

 2.Members shall be selected for two-year terms with one half of the members being selected each year. The term shall begin at the fall meeting each year.

 3.No member may serve more than two consecutive two-year terms, however, after being rotated off the Committee for one year, a former member may be selected for two additional two-year terms.

4.Meetings will be held twice a year or more as necessary. Unexcused absences at two consecutive meetings shall result in termination of membership.

5.The Chairperson of the Advisory Committee shall appoint a recruitment committee at the fall meeting each year who will assist the director in selecting candidates for the Committee.

The recruitment committee shall fill all vacancies by the spring meeting.




1.Three officers will be elected by the membership: Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, and Secretary. The officers will serve the membership with the assistance of the designated staff person from the Office for Persons with Disabilities. These four will be designated as the Executive Committee.

2.The Chairperson shall be responsible for preparing the agenda in consultation with the Director, convening, and presiding at the meetings of the committee. The Vice Chairperson shall perform the duties of the Chairperson when she or he is absent, and perform such other duties as assigned by the Chairperson. The Secretary shall be responsible for the minutes of all the meetings.

3.The term of office shall be two years. An officer may succeed herself (himself) for one term. Interim vacancies will be filled by appointment of the Executive Committee.

4.The officers shall be elected by all the members present during the spring meeting of the committee.
